how close can u park by a fire hydrant?
only if Caught by fire marshall.
In many states, absolutely.
In CA that is highly highly highly illegal!! It is actually grounds for eviction since the alarm is considered a part of the structure.
How old is the building your living in. That could give you a clue if they are hardwood. If the building is 50 years old or more then it's a good chance that they are hardwood. You can buy hardwood flooring cleaner at Home Depot. Check out the seams where the flooring butts together. If you are able to visibly see and or slide something very thin into the seam like a razor blade then it's hardwood if not then it's most likely laminate.
All rental units must have working smoke/fire detectors. Local code enforcement sets the standard for how many and their locations. I suppose there might be a backwater state that doesn't require them. However, if you installed them, it is your property. I would advise the tenant to put it back or face immediate eviction for damaging your property. If you are the tenant, well, see advice above for what could happen to you.
