Question:

How creative are you?

I wish I were creative, but I'm notCan you help me out? My second grader has to make a diorama, and he has chosen the rainforest as his themeWe want to have trees, vines, flowers, and rainforest animalsMy problem, since I am so not creative, is that the only thing I can figure out how to make is the vines (green yarn)Does anyone know an easy way to make rainforest trees, flowers, and animals? Thanks for your help!

Answer:

Since you're asking how, it's a matter of looking at the periodic table and seeing how many protons there are which will give you how many electronsFor example, carbon has 6 electronsTo categorise them into energy levels, it depends what level chemistry you are doing: 1Simple atomic theory: Each row on the periodic table until element 20 tells you how many electrons are in each energy levelLevel 1 2, level 2 8, level 3 8, level 4 2e.gcarbon 2, 4 2Orbital theory: The periodic table is further split into blocksThe 1st two columns are the s-block, the transition metals below scandium to zinc are the d-block, the block to the right of that is the p-block and the block disjointed from the table is the f-blockYou then fill electrons from left to right with each orbital having the same amount of electrons as in the row of the blocke.gcarbon 1s2 2s2 2p2 3Quantum theory: It is the same as orbital theory but you now need to recognise that each descriptor in orbital theory is part of a quantum number.
pipe clearners, construction paper, tissue paper, check out your local dollar store for craft supplies and see what they have in the toy section for miniture figures of animals that might be in a rain forest too! I'd get him to surf the internet for a picture of the rainforest the exemplifies what he want his project to look like and then mimick what is in the picture the best you canHe can draw and colour the walls of the box to help create the thick look of the forest and then only have to create a few trees/trunks flowers etc in 3-dBest of luck and remember to have some fun helping him out, it's things like this that kids remember about you for years to come.
