from my understanding it takes longer for resin to build up on glass pipes than say a metal pipe. it will just a lil bit to build up. just keep smoking from it and once it starts building up resin it will build up fairly fast.
The progression is: still alarm, box alarm, then 3, 4 and 5 It used to mean stations but in most places it now means just amount and type of equipment. A still gets an engine company, a box adds a ladder truck, then you add a pumper and more people and equipment with each alarm. The ranking fire officer at the scene decides what the level is. Such things as nursing homes, hospitals etc. get an automatic upgrade to at least a box when security confirms a real fire. This is all left over from the old telegraph systems that where used by fire departments. A still was from a report, a box was from when a trusted citizen who had a key to a fire alarm box located every few blocks, pulled the alarm. EMT and Police tend to call their systems plans not alarms.
