Question:

How do I control my Cholestrol , Triglycerids level?

Being a Strict Vegetarian what foods should I include in my diet and what foods should i avoid ?

Answer:

Make sure your diet is high in soluble fiber(ie oatmeal, etc) An Omega 3 fatty acid would probably helpThe best source of Omega 3's is fish oil, but if you are a veggie, that's probably not going to work for youA good alternative would be flaxYou can find flax seed oil capsules in the vitamin section at pretty much any grocery storeGarlic is good for heart health too, as is red yeast riceThe biggest offenders as far as high cholesterol foods are animal products, with red meat being pretty much at the top of that listIf you are not vegan, watch your cheese and dairy intakeIf you drink cow's milk, switch to skim, or try soy milkIts super yummy!
Read a story in a gardening book, this old lady grew the best rhubarb for miles around and all the locals got it from her till they discovered that she grew it under her bedroom windownow this was in the days when you had a pee pot under the bed and to empty it she just opened the window and tipped it over the rhubarbis that the ulimate in recycling.
Try my best to recycleWhenever possible will for example buy refill packets of spices etcDo not buy plastic shopping bagsMake sure when leaving home that there are shopping bags in the car.(Made from material that can be washed)Never throw away newspapersWith all the cats and dogs it comes in handyNot always possible, but trying.
Lol Cakes I have been doing that now for years, before this recycle thing came into fashion, yeah I do reuse old Icecream bakkies and when I buy so salad I use that little bakkies aswell and my butter bakkies, cause they all fit into the frezzer with all the left over foods, and I have been using my trolly for my grocery shopping so I don't need all the plastic bags.xxx
No, I do not think it is miserlyI think it is smartI remember when I first went to South Africa seeing plastic bags hanging in the thorn trees by the dozenQuite a shockMy hat is off to a lot of South Africans, white and blackIt was much cleaner the next time I visitedRecycling newspaper - reprocessing it into new paper - has been going on in Canada for a long timeAside from helping to clean up the world, it saves trees - I would think that would be important in Africa where trees of the paper making variety do not grow as abundantly as they do hereAlso it creates employmentWhen I lived in Polokwane, we had a little spot out back of the house, and we put all the vegetable peels etc there and composted themTwas nice to have some black earth to mix with that red clay and it grows fabulous tomatoesSorry! Looks like I got on my soap box again! Can't help myself sometimesHappens with us Green folks LOL
