We always BBQ steaks on the grill but I was just curious how long I would cook it if I wanted to cook it on the stove or in the oven? Do I need to add anything to the pan besides my seasonings for the steak?

Here are some basics to go by that I useU also like garlic salt and/or seasoning salt on my steakMy absolute favorite seasonsing is the Santa Barbara seasoning you get at Bristol Farms, it is amazing! 1When buying a steak select a nice sized rib-eye steakRib-eyes are a tender, flavorful cut of meatSelect a piece that is about 1 pound, and around one to one and a half inchs thick2Take your steak and sprinkle a light coat of sea salt on itRub the sea salt into the meatApply the sea salt to both sides of the steakaround 1 teaspoon should cover both sides of a 1 pound steak3Put 1 tsp of minced garlic on your steak and rub the garlic into both sides4Pre-heat your oven to 450 degrees5Heat your frying pan on high heatWhen the pan is hot (not still warming up), place the steak directly into the middle of the panLeave the steak in the pan for 2 minutesFlip the steak and leave for another 2 minutes6After searing the steak on both sides, remove the steak from the frying pan and turn off the stovePlace your steak onto a sheet of aluminum foil wrapped over a baking sheet (this will prevent your sheet from getting dirty)7Place your baking sheet (with the steak) into the oven for 7 minutesFlip the steak and put back into the oven for another 7 minutes8After cooking the steak in the oven, remove the baking sheet from the oven and use the meat thermometer to check the temperature of the steakYou want your meat to be between 129 - 135 degrees FIf the temperature is too low, place your steak back into the oven until the temperature is good9After removing your steak from the oven, place into a covered pot for 10 minutes before serving; allowing your steak to restTemperature may continue to rise a few degrees after removing from the oven10After resting serve your steak.
