You cannot sweat copper with water in it, the steam will keep the lead from sealing. Home Depot now sells Sharkbite copper connectors, it's the best alternative to sweating.
no one will believe this but it works if the water is off and there is still water lingering in it get a small piece of bread and place it in the pipe and it absorbs all the water and allows you to heat it up a plumber showed us and it has worked every time Good luck
JD said it. Yes you absolutely can. Turn off the water at the service,open the lowest faucetts in your house,drain as much water as possible. Stuff your pipes with bread,sand and flux your pipes and fittings, sweat your pipe. Turn your water back on. Don't worry about the bread,it will dissolve and flush out in no time.
