Question:

How do I fix a ceramic utensil holder?

We have a ceramic kitchen utensil holder my great aunt made that a chunk broke off and is long gone. How do I reform and attach a replacement piece for it so it can stand up without tipping over? Thanks for any help

Answer:

Not really. Africa had some very rich and wealthy empires, but that's way further in the past.
It was only rich in resources. They had a few empires here and there, but they were very poor. Africa still is poor sadly.
Clean ceramic of all oils and grease - warm soapy water, rinse, then alcohol. Two part paste epoxy blended and shaped with fingers in rubber gloves - PB7, Plumbers Repair - you may have to hunt for one that matches color or paint afterward if it shows. Shape and push into place, push the piece down on wax paper or aluminum foil to form the bottom surface so it stands. I would suggest practicing with some small balls of the epoxy to get a feel for how how it behaves before applying it to this piece.
