Question:

How do I get my smoke detector to stop chirping when it's hard-wired to the electricity?

My smoke detector began chirping at 4:27am today. Don't they just love doing that? So I've done a lot of researching on here, and everyone is saying to replace the batteries on my smoke detector, but I can't open up the detector itself. What's more is that it's hard-wired to the ceiling, except when I removed the smoke detector from the ceiling, it seems as if they were never really connected to begin with, so I don't know what I should do now.

Answer:

police, he can get fined badly for it, its not right for you to do something with him over that it puts you down. show him he cant mess with people that way ! report him fast without him knowing.. goodluck
There is no set rule, except that if the home does not meet the Building Code for your specific area, the home cannot be occupied. What usually happens is that the Inspector's report is triaged into must fix, should fix, and don't care. Then you negotiate with the seller to fix the items. He might pay for some repairs, or decide not to - and lower the selling price to entice you to buy the home with agreed upon repairs (if any). Again, no set rule for responsibility; just the ability to walk away from a deal that isn't palatable.
