I have a Dell monitor. I'm not sure how many years I've had it but it's probably been at least 5 or 6 years. It still seems good although maybe the color is a little off by one of the primary colors compared to my newer Dell laptop. Other than that, it's still good.I don't have it set to turn off after a short time of inactivity because I read that the lamp inside can get worn out from being turned on repeatedly. But I do have the brightness set at 48% instead of 100%, which is still bright enough for general use. Will that help make the monitor have more longevity?
They will last awhile, but the backlight will go out after a few years. Backlights can be replaced though. The color may be a little less vivid after many years of use, but usually people replace their monitors by then. Overall though most monitors can last many many years.
