Question:

Antique tool/machinery appraisal?

I am handling affairs for my grandmother's estate and she has a shed full of antique tools/machinery from when my grandfather died two decades ago. Where should I go to get an accurate appraisal?

Answer:

Find a local thrift/antiques shop. They will know of appraisers in your area. BTW: Unless the tools belonged to his father they are just old tools. Some people like displaying old tools in their work hop, but unless they are im mint conditoin they arn't worth all that much.
I have been going through that myself, Dad and Mom had a lot of stuff I thought might be antique or valuable. If you go on Ebay a lot of the stuff you think is antique is not just old. You can get a good idea what things are selling for but if you want a local appraisal I would suggest you talk to clerk at like Ace or Osh hardware stores they might be able to give you a name. (talk to the managers)
