I need to replace the wheels and bearings on my skateboard. How do i go about placing the bearings inside the wheels?
When you get them, ask if you can get them put in, but if you want to do something like let the wheels sit in the freezer (it works) then you have to put them in. Just line them up and push them in until the bearing is completely secured and in place within the wheel. If you want try pounding it in gentally with the handle of a screw driver, but not too hard because they will break.
I wouldn't recommend pounding on them at all. Take the old bearings out with a screwdriver, put it in one side and pry out the bearing. It should come out pretty easily. There might be spacers between the wheels if you have big wheels. To put the new ones in. push them in as far as you can with your hands, then put them on your trucks and tighten the nut down until they're in the wheel. You might want to loosen the nut a little after you get them in. If the bearings aren't in the wheel and you can't get the nut on, do one side at a time, put the bearning only on the trucks and push the wheel over it.
Put one inside the wheel , place it on the truck , then gently push it in. Be sure you apply pressure evenly to get the bearings flush and even , you can tell by looking at it. Be sure to use washers on the outside and in to increase the life of your bearings and keep them clean. To get them out use a flathead screwdriver and pry them gently out.
