Question:

How do I remove bad carpet stains?

Is there a not too expensive way to pretreat really bad carpet stains before I use a before I go over the entire carpet with a steamclean pro home machine thanks

Answer:

invest in a sprayer . like for weed killer . mix in 2 cups of laundry soap { liquid} and half bottle of vinegar . fill with water first to avoid allot of bubbles . I have 5 house dogs and i track in just as much dirt going in and out and constantly tearing apart or building something . tidbit of info . best way to remove gum is with sugar . make into a past and apply to gum . gum will turn to mush and the rest will come up with a shampoo.
There are a couple of ways to try so you can chose. You can try to pour club soda over the stained area, then drying that area. you could also use wet paper towels to try to bring up the stain, but that depends on how old the stain is. If it is a pet related stain, you can find cheap things at stores to get rid of it without any bad smells. Hope this stuff helped.
Depending on what the stain is and how long it's been there, start with a carpet cleaner, such as Woolite and spray it on, let it sit and then vacuum it off. If that doesn't work, rent a steam cleaner for the carpet and use the cleaner that comes with it. For everyday spills you catch right away, use soda water and blot out the stain.
I would sprinkle baking soda on the area in a heap. You want it to absorb as much as possible. Then pour pure ammonia onto the soda and let it soak because coffee is one of those really bad staining things. After about 30 minutes use the Rug Doctor to suction out all of the ammonia and baking soda and see if this helps to lighten it or take it all out. You may have to repeat. For the last rinse use 2 or 3 cups white vinegar and hot water and allow this to soak again. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes and suction the area out again. Yes, I can just imagine the horrible mess that happened with instant coffee. It might be a permanent stain but I would attempt it again after it dries just to give the carpet and yourself a rest. I hope this will help you. Ammonia is great taking stains out but I am not sure about instant coffee so dark and embedded into the carpet. You will have to tell your boy to not make coffee anymore until he is a big boy. Good luck.
Depends on the stain. Tell me more. Here are a few pointers: 1. Koolaid is taken out by using a steam iron, a PURE WHITE cloth, Ammonia (preferably lemon scented), and a steam Iron. Mix the Ammonia 1to1 with water and pour a small amount on the Kool-Aid stain. Place the white cloth on top of the stain and heat it with the Iron. Repeat as necessary. It is called Heat Transfer, the stain will soak up into the white cloth. If you use a colored cloth, the color from the cloth will soak into the carpet. 2. Urine when it dries turns to alkaline. The way to remove alkaline is with acid. Vinegar is an acid and works well. Also Protein stains like Blood and Urine set when you try to clean them with hot water, so use cold water when cleaning these types of stains. 3. For every 18 degrees of water temperature your soap will clean 100 percent better. Use VERY hot water to clean carpet, just so long as you are below 200 degrees. Thus the reason they call it steam cleaning. 4. Mechanical action (scrubbing) is the best way to clean most stains. Get vicious. 5. Always test any spot remover in a closet to make sure it is not taking out the color of your carpet. 6. Buy powdered water softener in your laundry soap section of the store and use it with your soap, it will make it work far better. 7. Keep it simple Stupid. Regular degreasers and cleaners work well in traffic lanes. Get a cheap pump up sprayer in your garden section of Walmart, add simple green and water, and spray the High traffic areas of your carpet and any spots. This is called a TLC or Traffic Lane Cleaner.
