Question:

How do i replace a driver-side windshield wiper on a 1995 Ford Explorer?

i‘ve got a 1995 ford explorer and my driver side windshield wiper doesn‘t work. I‘ve tried to remove the arm to access the motor to replace it but i can not figure out how to remove the arm.

Answer:

Pry up the small cap on the end of the wiper. It either has a small screw holding it down or a clip. The inside of the wiper has splines around it.
Is it for sure the motor, or just the arm stripped, or bolt loose. To remove arm there is probably a bolt under a plastic cap that unsnaps from the bottom of the arm, or is it the type that has a metal tab on the top side that you have to pivot away from the arm to unlock?
If the passenger wiper works, your motor is fine. Ford usually have a cap above the wiper shaft. Remove cap and underneath it is a nut. Remove nut then remove blade. You'll probably find that the shaft is worn smooth. There should be ridges to catch the arm. Use a vise grip to introduce some new 'ridges' to the shaft and hopefully it will hold strong.
