I have a 1995 Ford Taurus Gl 3.0 V6 and needed to know how to flush the transmission fluid?
The only way you can change the transmission fluid is to drop the pan and drain it that way but that only takes out about 50% of the old fluid the rest of the fluid is in the torque converter and the only way to get it out is to take it to a mechanic or transmission shop and have a flush and fill done they change 100% of the fluid not just part of it
The only way to properly flush your transmission is with a machine specifically designed to install new fluid while removing the old fluid as the engine is running - this machine splices into the transmission cooling line - the old fluid pumped out is captured while new fluid is pumped in. If you merely drain the pan, you will leave the vast amount of old fluid still in the transmission and torque converter. If you want a real thorough job, remove the transmission pan and clean it out, install a new filter and then have it flushed at a service center.
Just be careful with transmission flushing - if flushing is what you really mean. If transmission fluid changing is what you mean then by all means change the fluid with the appropriate type and quantity. But there are differing opinions on actual transmission flushing. The reason being that during flushing - what happens is - that you stir up debris and sediment that has otherwise settled and found a comfortable home. The theory seems to be that if your transmission has had regular flushes - then by all means continue to flush it. But if it hasn't had regular flushes - then you may be better off not disrupting a larger amount of debris and sediment. Good Luck and I hope this helps!!!!!!
