Question:

How do you mine iron in minecraft?

I found iron but when I mined it it did not give men any iron

Answer:

Two things are happening 1) You are mining with a wooden pick. Wooden picks break Iron ore blocks - but doesn't give you the block itself. 2) You are using a stone pick (or higher) and have Iron Ore in your inventory. You need to smelt that in the furnace to get Iron ingots.

You need a stone pickaxe to mine it. Once you get it it will be iron ore. Put it in a furnace, and also put in coal or wood as fuel. Then you should have iron ingots.
Ok, so two things might of happened, you were using a wooden pickaxe to break it. That will yield nothing. 2) you got iron ore and need to smelt it in a furnace. the furnace is 8 stone in a circle that is hollow in the center.
