I have cableone cable tv but the remote only controls the cable box not my actual tv. I want the remote to be able to control my tv, dvd player and such. How do u do this anyone know? Or do u k ow some kind of link to a tutorial?
it depends on the brand of remote and the age of it as well. If it is a newer remote than it will control most things blue ray players are a pain because most cable companys only come out with new remotes every 4 to 5 years. If your tv is a name brand than it should be very easy to program most of them have a cheat code to program your tv now if it is like a vizio or such then it might be a problem because older cable remotes will only program to some of them. For instance time warner cable currently has 3 remotes out. 1 of them you press tv and setup at the same time until it blinks 2 times then you press 991 and then press the channel up button until it turns the tv off and then press the setup button. the second one you press tv and select until it blinks 2 times and press tv until it turns off. the newest one you press tv and select until the lights blink two times press channel up and it will turn off and save code. I am assuming you have a dvr remote if your wondering about dvd because those are the only remotes with ff rr pause and stop on them. Note that only some dvd players will be able to use those functions the rest will just turn them on and off. If you are programing a surround sound than you will have to get into the settings on the cable box under audio and turn the audio to fixed so that when you program the audio it will use it instead of the tv's audio and even then you would have to press audio and select put the code in, and then press cable and select until it blinks two times and then press the aud button so that the remote remembers to use the surroundsound all the time. Its just confusing if you have to ask so if you could put the models of everything down remote, dvd, vcr, surround sound, tv i would be able to give you the exact codes
Look at the manual for the cable box. It should give you a list of universal codes so you can control a TV, possibly also a DVD player or VCR.
