Try all season Rain-X wipers. They have worked great for me
Try Anco or Trico blades. I've had much better luck with them. As previously stated, try cleaning them regularly with isopropyl alcohol.

Beth seems to have it about right, it also varies by the type of engine, diesels obviously run much hotter at the tailpipe than a gasoline motor, and turbocharged/FI engines also run hotter exhaust temperatures.
Combustion gases can be as hot as 1200 to 1400 degrees as they leave the exhaust port and enter the exhaust system with the engine under a heavy load. They start to cool after the convertor. I would guess under a heavy load they would be 800 or so degrees out the tail pipe. At idle the temperature is way less, probably 200 degrees at the pipe.
