Question:

How Long Does a Factor Exhaust System Last?

Just a standard exhaust sytem (steel pipes, catalytic converter, muffler, etc). About how long does it usually last before needing replacing. My has some surface rust on the entire pipe, and is flaking some around the connections to the muffler and other areas.I live in northeast tn by the way, and it is a standard sedan car.

Answer:

Depends on how much you drive it. If you drive only a few miles a day, it isn't exposed to as much slush and salt as when you commute 40 miles a day. Also if you park on a hill with the tail down, it drains out excess moisture that creates rust from the inside. So, it just all depends.
The fastest way is if you're really rich, in which case you just stand by an auctioneer and buy the required materials to make the stuff you can make (your skill increases the more you make). If you're not made of money get yourself either some very helpful friends or learn the mining profession and go out into the big world and find the stuff you need :-P (granted, some of the materials you need can only be bought / made / found on creatures) :-)
If you've taken up engineering you might also want to take up mining. You will need the metals all the time for your engineering profession. The rocks you get from mining for ore is what you use for the powders and a lot of other stuff.
Don't know about Factor exhaust systems but the factory exhaust system should last for 10years and less in salty areas before anything should need changing
