Question:

How long does it take to break in new motorcycle tires ?

I just bought a brand new pair of Bridgestone BT-016‘s for my R6. How many miles will it take for them to break-in ? I‘ve put about 100 miles on them just commutting to/from work but I am trying to go riding on Sunday and hittin up them curves!

Answer:

heat the middle of the fitting work down to the bottom it should suck the solder in as it starts moving take the heat off
clean the area to be repaired apply flux to both areas and sleeve do bottom first then top.if your still having a problem.try a rubber leak patch that slides over the area and you just tighten the two clamps.

Distance really has nothing to do with it. Its how far you have leaned the bike. What I do is go to a nice corner nearby ( fairly sharp so you don't need much speed) . Go back and forth at a certain lean angle, then repeat it with increasing lean angles each time. My rule of thumb is to have the virgin rubber taking up no more than 1/4 of the contact patch. After about half an hour you will have a nicely scrubbed in set of tyres.
