Question:

How many electrons are present in an atom and an ion of aluminum?

My guess is that the atom 10 and the ion 13, is this correct?

Answer:

but you have not displayed your messenger i.d.though i am ready
it's atomic number is 13, so, un-ionized, it has 13 electronsionized, it typically loses 3 electrons, which leaves 10but it could lose only 1 or 2, giving you total of 11 or 12I think it may be possible to add electrons under some conditions to get numbers above 13.
