Question:

how many types of metal are there?

Heavy metal, death metal, heavydeath metal, progressive metal, melodic metal, goth metal, and uhhh are their any more?

Answer:

First of all, I am in NO way a fan of Metallica or any other old metal band WHATSOEVER. But, the band I was in three years ago played numerous times with Motionless back before they were remotely big or on their way. Unfortunately, they sold out. Yes, you like that hardcore breakdown don't you? Well, when we used to play together they were fallout boy pop. They literally made fun of hardcore for half their set each and every show, playing songs mocking the hardcore scene. They have great music, but they did in fact sell out. P.S. People who hate musicians because he/she/they sold out, don't quite understand that if they themselves were given a chance to sell out, or become famous/get big/make money/tour, they would in heartbeat...who wouldn't?
Both. Metal doesn't sing about shooting other artists (Which rap does), killing other people (Which rappers do, I mean, look at Tupac) metal actually has a fanbase from say 40 years ago. At least Metallica has kept their fanbase since Kill em All. Let's see Justin Bieber pull that one off. Yeah, granted Metallica are more overrated than they actually could be but at least they got to the top amidst pop music. Not every day a metal band does that, sell out or not. So go screw yourself ******.
One word to some up a real metal band that has and never will sell out: MEGADETH.
Show me a real metal band, and I'll show you someone that thinks it's mainstream crap and not as good as something else. What is the deal with metal heads competing to see who has the bigger d*** by talking about all the cool underground or European crap they like. Just listen to what you listen to and enjoy it, quit spending so much energy ragging on bands you don't like. Nobody is impressed.
I'm willing to put money on the fact that real metal to you is some death/black metal band that only 12 people have heard of, and who records their albums on a Sony Ericsson Walkman who are from some Scandinavian village that consists of the 12 people aforementioned. Also, shut up please. We don't really care about your opinion on Metallica.
