I am debating beetween buying the amd fx 8120 and the 8150please tell me what both of them can realistically over clock to with a corsair h80 water cooler
First off for an every day overclock the 8120 can do 4.7Ghz with out much trouble but to try and get it above 5.0 Ghz is a challenge and I would not recommend it for everyday use. The 8150 can get over the 5.0Ghz hump but not by much only about 5.3 Ghz from what I have seen plus you will need watercooling in order to hold the cpu stable at that overclock. Ps. TO THE INTEL FAN BOYS. the 8120 and the 8150 at 4.6Ghz can out benchmark an I7 2600k @ 3.7Ghz And the real word results out run the I7 in multi tasking.
Personally, I would not buy Bulldozer since an i5 2500K/2600K will perform better overall, but I'm sure they would overclock about the same. If ya get lucky, maybe 4.7-4.8 EDIT: Lol, I hope you're kidding. AMD achieved that &record& by shutting down all the cores except for one, which is meaningless. Not to mention, no one uses liquid nitro on a regular basis Sandy Bridge Intel chips overclock just as well if not better than Bulldozer, and of course they are much more efficient per clock cycle. I have a Noctua air cooler and my 2600K runs fine @ 4.6
