solid axles will cause high tire wear every time you go around a curve, as one of the tires has to slip. PS, you can have non-solid axle without independent suspension, the two are not linked. All pickup trucks, for example, have independently rotating wheels, but do not have totally independent suspension. But all autos manufactured today have independent wheel rotation for all 4 wheels, and fully independent suspension.
That is how low cost cars are made! Hope this properly answers your question Guru
your cost will be cut in half because it takes four wheels to operate four wheel car, now for two it would not be an independent suspension.
