how much does it cost to build a silo ?
which type of silo? Bunker silo: depends on cost of concrete in your area, and how much excavating you need to do, as well as your intended size. Also if using a preformed or poured one. Upright silo: Not sure if they even build these anymore, last one we did almost 20 years ago the crew had to drive about 12 hrs, since there was really no one closer. Bag silo: a few bucks a foot if custom done, add in cost of bagger if buying, although the bag itself will be cheaper. a concrete pad is nice here, especially on heavier or wetter ground.
That totally depends on how much time and other resources one has and one's specific needs. Assuming you have no suitable materials laying around and would have to buy them, you have to first calculate the size you need and decide on what you're going to build it from. If you have unlimited time and cheap labor, and only need a small one, going with bricks and/or concrete block used to be very popular around here. Of course that will do for all but the roof. I'm partial to to the dome tops such as were made by Columbia steel tank, mainly because they were leakproof and that's pretty important for storing grain.
totally depends on your materials, cement, brick, wood, steel. Who is the labor/contractor. The best thing to do is a couple quotes from a builder or two.
at the very least 50,000. and could very easily go to 100,000 plus. You also need a squeeze, or you can use the squeeze as a breeding chute too. or vice versa. And if you have very many calves, you will need a calf table too.... it depends on how many animals you plan too keep, and how big you plan to have these barns. dont forget to have grazing space. No cow is happy in a barn all the time.
