Question:

How much water content should i have in my vermiculite for cactus seed incubation?

I grow exotic mushrooms and I want to move on to cactus cultivation. I like exotic plants and I'm pretty well inclined with micrology. I'm gonna do a peat and vermiculite substrate to germinate the cactus seed... maybe some ground up palm tree wood that ive been composting in a suspended sterilized peat environment. Should I case the cactii with vermiculite as well, for an optimum flush? When I prepare the vermiculite for mushrooms I simply pour the warm water in the mix and strain out the excess. Should I just do the same for cactus germination? I'm going to drop the ratio of peat vs vermiculite to a 2 to 1 ratio, instead of a 1 to 2 ratio that I do for mushroom incubation. Sorry if I'm confusing you.
