How much weight can the average cheap r/c helicopter lift? (car keys, a hat off someones head, etc.)?

a cheap one sometimes cant even lift it self up, it sometimes cant even fly straight, want to lift things like what you said i think you need to buy one that you build yourself
don't jump to conclusion as far as a bad compressor. Do some checking a few things first. Get someone to get in your SUV and open the hood and you stand outside of it make sure all doors are closed and have them turn the key to the start position and you wait and listen for the compressor to come on. If after 3 to 5 minutes and it hasn't came on then there are a few other things to check. The fuse is one, also check does your air suspension check light come on if not turn off the air suspension switch for about 10 minutes and while its off the air suspension check light should come on. Turn your air switch back on and do the same thing again making sure all doors are closed and turn the key to the start position. There are several other test to run and things to check feel free to email me.
