I am thinking of buying a 1994 Toyota Celica for 1500 dollars, its has 125k miles on it, but the front and rear bumper need to be replaced (couple hundred dollars each) and a leaky roof, how much would it take to fix the roof? And after all my expenses, would it still be a good deal?
leaky roof? the only way the roof could leak if theirs a hole in it, does that mean theirs a hole in the roof ? or did you mean the windows leak?
Any engine worth buying is going to be about 500 US dollars or more. I am sure that there are places that specialize in Celica's on line (but not being a Toyota fan I don't know them). If they are in the price range of the Miata's a quality rebuilt is going to be on the order of 2 grand (plus shipping). If you have the time, you most likely can pull your engine and have a local machine shop rebuild yours for about the same price (or less). This is the route I take when I can, but I shop for a machine shop like some people shop for a new car. Ask around and look in the phone book. A quality rebuild by a local specialist can be a source of pride for both of you.
The roof is it a moon roof or a retractable roof window?? Is it the window that is leaking or is it the rust around the window frame... Cost to fix could run as hi as $600 repaired professionally at the body shop.
