Outboard Throttle Control
Without knowing the type, size and brand of your set-up there is only some generic advice, first of all the linkage clearances and setting up procedure is finely detailed in the workshop manual, which you should have anyway. If the engine is not running there is normally a lock-out with twin lever controls - this to prevent the engine being put into gear while the throttle is any where faster than slow idle. There might be one or more failed cables due to corrosion - even the best maintained cables do eventually fail through rust and/or hardened lubricant. With a single lever control unit there is an eccentric cam that allows the shift cable to be fully engaged forwards or back before any advance of the throttle occurs - if the throttle cable has failed that points to the problem. This presumes the control box itself has not failed. Without a manual to hand you can pull these things apart - but it is so much easier if you have that, and take photos as you go to remind you how the cables enter and connect. My feeling is the cables are the likely issue, when removed from the control box and the Engine and laid out straight it should be fairly easy to move the inner by hand, if not you should consider quality replacements such as Morse. If you pay attention to the settings before fiddling with anything, and measure them properly you can put things back together pretty close, and refer to the manual for fine adjustment. Good luck.
Are you pondering and electric powered outboard motor, or an electric powered trolling motor vs the petrol outboard motor ? electric powered outboard automobiles are made for non-provide up use , and would supply as much as 5 hp. electric powered trolling automobiles are no longer designed for non-provide up use , and could decrease out after prolonged use {i've got experienced it in below a million/2 hr} at finished potential , as a results of warmth . electric powered outboard automobiles are high priced , and require distinctive battery {36-40 8 volt} . Your hassle-free 20-30 lb thrust 12 volt trolling motor is giving out below a million hp . i would not elect to be in any form of wind or sea with that form of potential. there is not any longer any reserve there to get you out of hardship the two . i've got tried the trolling motor direction with a 20 ft lifeboat . contained in the tip I had over 2 hundred lbs of thrust in a 36 volt gadget , with 12 batteries. nevertheless no longer adequate . You get right into a vicious circle . To get the persistence you elect , you elect greater batteries , which creates greater weight , which demands greater thrust, which demands greater batteries , which creates greater weight, which demands greater thrust .etc. No , petrol is your in basic terms reliable selection.
