I have Bones Reds skateboard bearings and usually just spray WD40 on/in/around them and spin them a little and then spray again and let it dry before putting them back into my wheels and then spraying them again with WD40. Is there a proper way to deep clean/lube them? Also, any instructions on how to remove the shields (because its only one-sided red). Thanks!
i like to soak my bearings in vegtable oil if they are abec 5 or lower ,i have found that any abec higher can get ruind.i have also put grease lubricant on them and i seemed to give them a little boost also.if u go to any skate store they should carry a lub made jjust for cleaning bearings but i have not tryed it so i dont know how i works
I actually just lubed my bearings yesterdday. Don't use Wd-40 it may seem better but it attracts more dirt than it would normally. Since you have Bones get Bones Speed Cream RF. Bones also make cleaning easy for there is only one shield that needs to be taken off which is the red shield. To take them of just get a thumb tack and go in the gap between the metal and the shield and put it in and pry it off. It will then snap back in after cleaning. Also when you buy Speed Cream it gives you all the instructions.
