If anyone can find me a decent video of a Fujian White Crane Kung Fu simple hand block then I will be very grateful! I know sort of how to do it but I would like to get it spot on.Thanks
To get it spot on as you say, it would be best to get it from your instructor. Videos are sometimes good and sometimes bad. In any case they are a bad way to learn something. They simply can't correct things. And that is assuming that the video shows them correctly in the first place. Learn from a competent instructor.
There is no simple crane block. This is a myth perpetrated by some of the Hakusturu people. I study Fukien White Crane and I gave you a reference in the question you asked before. Just like there is no crane stance. There are many blocks and stances in White Crane boxing and they are ALL crane blocks and crane stances. The blocking system is very sophisticated and takes hard work and proper mechanics to grasp the idea. Do you have a Fujian White Crane school near you? If you do, enroll in it and learn it the right way - under a trained instructor. I guarantee you that you will not be learning any blocking applications. In the White Crane Arts, you do nothing but Sam Chien for the first three years. So forget this fantasy of learning it here on Yahoo Answers. Edit: Let me correct myself - there are not even any blocks in White Crane Fist. All the movements you see are trapping and grappling techniques. It is an Internal Art so the idea is to trap the opponent and destroy the attack using explosive energy.
Not sure if there is a video but if you check out Analysis of Shaolin Chin Na by Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming you might find something.
