Question:

How to fix a collapsible ar stock?

I have a collapsible ar stock that i havent moved in a few years and i tried to adjust it and it wont budge, the lever wont allow me to pull it to move the stock, any ideas?

Answer:

1 Pull the adjusting lever out (gently) as far as you canThis is the opposite direction you usually compress it to adjustSpray everything that moves with penetrating oilThis will release the stock from the buffer tube 2 Pull off the stock while the lever is pulled 3 Clean and lube the detent rail of the buffer tubeGalvanic corrosion of the steel plunger and the aluminum tube can be a problem4 Spray the actual metal part you see the lever actuate with some sort of penetrating oilWork the lever by compressing and extending the lever fully up until you see it move freely 5 If you can't get it to work, just replace the stock assembly with either a commercial or military buffer tube compatible sockThey are so cheap, that it doesn't pay to take all day to mess with it.
