I just removed a set that sounds like what you have. It had rollers on the top and rubber pieces on the bottom. The bottom pieces sort of snaped into/onto a track and needed a good pull to get them to come loose. I had to use a small putty knife on one to get it to come loose. If you plan on reusing the doors, be very careful not to break the runner pieces as they tent to harden over time.
In my experience, these programs are usually run by fire departments. I'd recommend first contacting your local fire department (the fire prevention or education department, if they have one). If they don't have a free smoke/CO detector program, they'd probably know if anyone else in the area does.
Go to your fire department, I think Parma is still giving them to residents. I used to live off of State rd. I got one of each from them free.
