Hi, I have a 2010 Mazda Mazda 3. I‘m looking into switching over to HID Lights, however I don‘t know if this is expertise or not. Is it simply buying new HID bulbs instead of the halogens, or do I need to have a whole new lighting system in place? Please help and explain! Also, what are the HID kits?
HIDhigh intensity discharge kind of a bluish light some cars can handle just swapping the bulbs, but most can't handle the extra current they draw and the light case can melt because they can get really hot. The kits are the best way to go as they usually come with beefed up wiring and cases and a device that makes it easier for the vehicle to handle the HIDs. Since your car is really new, I don't think there would be a huge problem with a simple swap but the safest way to go is the kit. Check some mazda forums for the answers by people who have done things like that. i'm sure there is tons of info there. Good luck!
HID kits allow you to have an HID system in most vehicles. Installation is relatively simple, but if you are worried, you should ask a car electrician expert to help with the install.
HID bulbs require a ballast (like a transformer). Just switching bulbs does not get you HID. You need a kit with ballasts.
Hit the deck! It's gonna blow!!!!!
