Hello noname: Most Scout badges are not iron-on ready; you need to buy a film to do this. Patch Magic is what is sold through the Scout supply division, and it comes with very good instructions. NEVER iron on a patch that is not designed to be iron-on; it will ruin the patch and the shirt. If you are going on the inexpensive way, pick up some iron-on backing from a cloth store or hobby store. Cut the film to the size of the patch. Place your shirt on the ironing table, and pre-heat the fabric. Use a medium setting on your iron; high-heat will cause the iron on glue to soak into the fabric; you don't want this, you want the glue to sandwich between the patch and the fabric. After you have pre-heated the area where your patch will be placed, position the iron-on material on the back of your patch. Position the patch on the shirt, and cover the patch with a towel or thin cloth. press the iron on the patch but do not move the iron. hold for 15 to 20 seconds, then remove the iron. let the patch cool for a few minutes until you can touch it and not get burned. lift up the cloth and 'tug' a the patch. If it moves, redo the iron process for a little longer.
