Use splice kits or split bolt connectors and make the splice inside a junction box. Install a cover on the box when you finish.
i could ask you qualified chum, while you're gonna do it besides, bear in suggestions that with any spur off of any furnish, do no longer exceed 13amps, or 3000watts of power from any spur.make certain you upload a 13amp spur fuse field interior the domicile, and placed a 5amp fuse in it to be risk-free notice: that in case you haven't any longer have been given electric powered variations completed by utilising an authorized electrician, it could invalidation any insurance in case of fireplace or death. get a quote from a professional, and use armoured cable for outdoors
There are splice fittings available to joining cables of this type. The are rather like a metal tube open at both ends with bolts on the sides. You may insert the end of one cable in one side and the end of the other cable into the other side and then tighten the bolts to secure the wires into one piece. The splice may then be covered with electrician's tape or electrical shrink tubing to insulate and protect it. You might try your home improvement center or electrical supply house as sources for these fittings.
If you intend to pull this wire into a pipe, NO. It is a Code Violation to have a spice in an enclosed raceway. If you can set an accessible box at the spilce point, YES. If it will be in a gutter or cable tray, then yes. These days a common way is to use a Polaris Tap. Quick, easy and cost effective. If you are not using this for electrical purposes, a split-bolt (no tape required) is quick and cheap.
