If you're finding what you think may be gold under what you're calling stainless steel, what you actually have, most likely, is chromed brass pipes and fittings. This stuff was used extensively, usually in a 3/8 pipe size to be the pipes to the water fixtures from the floor up in a lot of older homes. My home was built in 1904 and it's all 1/2 3/4 galvanized steel pipe, except for what I've replaced with plastic.
Hello Annon. OSHA does not approve anything. But if it is ANSI stamped, they are good classes. I would recommend using glasses with side protectors on them. Good question though
