i need to pull the front drivers side axle shaft on a 09 dodge ram half ton. does anyone know if the just pull off or is there something else that i‘m not seeing?
The end of the axle is splined into the wheel bearing meeting. Removing 3 bolts that are available from the again will free up the wheel bearing. When the bearing is out, the axle will come straight out. If the axle is seized within the bearing, a liberal dose of WD40 is referred to as for.
not sure on that late of a model but the older style usually slide out. it could possibly have a c-clip style retainer inside the housing but im not sure try looking on you tube. my 02 ford will slide out with a little force. once you unbolt all the brake system and wheel hub assembly it should come out
If you have removed the brake rotor and hub assembly it should just pull out of the differential. But there is a possibility that there is a lockring inside the diff holding it in. On older solid axle 4x4's the front shafts just pull out. Check with a parts store like AutoZone and ask them the normally have remove and replace instructions available on their computers.
