Question:

how to Replace axle seal?

I have a 93 lumina 3.1 fwd. The transmission went out on it so i installed one out of a wrecked car. got it all hooked up. started and it started leaking heavily fron the drivers side axle. how do i replace the seal? I got a trans in there but im not that smart when it comes to transmissions so a step by step with do and donts would be appreciated, thanks much

Answer:

First be sure the axle is seated properly (all the way in the socket). If it is, you have a bad seal. Remove the axle and pry out the old seal. Evenly tap (to avoid distortion) the new seal in place, then replace the axle.
some alarms have a hidden shut off/reset switch usually hidden under the dash.
Disconnect the alarm from its power source, then try starting the car.
