Question:

How to switch batteries in heat detector?

For the past few days my AIP AI281B heat detector has been beepingI need to change the batteries but I can't find where the batteries are in the heat detectorit's wired up to the houseor is the beeping caused by something else?

Answer:

Those things are sooooooooo annoying! Then when you get it apart, it will never go back together again. They need to re-think the whole design on that!

I would run the heat and have the windows open to vent the house for about an hour or two. Then shut the windows and keep running the heat. If the smoke alarms keep going off, you can call your heating company or you can call the fire department. Seriously, the fire department will have no problem coming over and checking for a Carbon Monoxide leak. They have special gear to let them check that and would not mind doing this for you.
Most detectors can be unmounted by applying a little pressure upward toward the ceiling and twisting counter clockwise. The unit is probably seated on a mounting plate about 1/8 thick and is held on by little tongue and grove tabs. Good luck, that can be annoying.
