Question:

I bought a PS3 console without cables?

what cables do i need (besides a power cable) to start playing?

Answer:

The PS3 should come with composite cables as standard. The yellow/red/white cables. IF bought brand new take it back and tell them you got no lead with it. How ever if bought second hand, ask the person to send you the composite cables. If they cant the one for the PS2 will do the same job. Also you can use a HDMI cable if you have a HD tv.
Yeah Power Cable is great and all but are you forgeting the PS3 Controller Charger, The ethernet cable and HDMI Cable
If you have a HDTV, get an HDMI cable. If you have a SDTV, get Component Cables if your TV supports it, but if your TV doesn't support Component Cables, get the standard A/V Composite Cables. And make sure that you get a Mini B USB cord because without it, you wont be able to charge the PS3 controller.
you need the standard a/v cables. If you have a HDTV then you want to buy the HDMI cables
1). PS AV cable for standard TVs; 2). HDMI 1.3a for HDTVs; 3). RJ-45 cable if you plan a wired internet connection; 4). SB - miniB cable for controller; 5). Power cable (same as for PC).
