Either one will work, I much prefer the cottoncomfortable and easy to care for and by the way , my husband is a cotton farmer! but that aside, i still prefer cotton.
If there's a chance that there will ever be candles, celebration sparklers and/or fire or embers of any sort, cotton will be safer than the artificial fleeceIt will take a long time to dry when it gets wet thoughArtificial fleece or clean old panty-hose will dry quickly if it gets wetI heard of a utility rug that'd been crocheted of pantyhose and replaced with something brighter and the rug consigned to a compost heapIt was reported to still be in original condition after several years in the heapBarring flame, etc., many of the synthetics will last a long, long, long time.
Cook the slices in a nonstick frypan until they are well donePlace them on a plate and stick them back in the frig if you want them coldAlternatively, place them on a baking sheet or aluminum foil and stick them in the toaster ovenJust don't overcook them or they will be hard.
I'd go with the cottonit'll be more comfortable, and will dry fasterAlso, it will probably last longer than you think and quickly become one of your favorite projects until it wears out and you make another one.
