I burned what I was cooking. The smoke detectors went off. I ignored them because the noise shut off but not completely. It is close to four years since the new smoke detectors with new batteries were installed. I replaced the batteries and reset the detectors. Two weeks later the beeping still continues. I don't want to remove the batteries, in case of a fire I want to be alert. Any suggestions as to what I should do to stop the noise. It is not my cooking because I don't cook often.
