Question:

I have a 2001 ford escape that will not turn over(engage starter)does the anti theft system control this func?

Does it control the cranking of the engine? or the of the ignition system? Nephew had put water in the fuel tank trying to fix problem removed line from fuel filter and turning key on and off pumping out the water.I removed fuel pump relay and jumped the pump for cont. use the key was turned on and off during this process and now it will not crank over. There is an anti theft light on the dash,it goes off after the key is turned on and the ecm scans

Answer:

Um. . .Guess you better do what the idiot light is telling you to do. Start by having the OBDII codes checked for free at an auto parts outlet near you.
IF it keeps flashing, it likely needs urgent care. Best thing you can do, is take it to a mechanic, or have it towed to one.
It's flashing because there is a severe misfire. What's causing that? It could be many things, none of which can be diagnosed over the internet.get it to a shop.
It is known as keyless entry. It has some alarm elements however not a full blown alarm approach. It will sound the alarm if anyone smash into your car. If you want the horm to beep after locking all doors then press the lock button twice. For the 2nd experiment. Roll down the window, stand outside of the automobile and use the faraway to lock it. Now attain in pull the lock pin and open the car. The automobile will count on that someone broke the glass to get in and sounds the alarm. I don't suppose any one would wish to steal your Taurus but go forward and get a steerage wheel lock for peace of intellect.
Ahh the joys of family. Yes, a lot of anti theft systems will lock out a number of things, fuel pump, coil, starter, and things like that. You can get a remote starter from your local auto store. This will directly supply power to your starter. Now if your key is turned on, then your coil should be energized and the engine should fire (or at least crank). If it doesn't start, pull one of your plug wires and put a spark plug in the end and ground the tip. Crank the engine and watch for a spark. This should help you narrow down the problem. I hope I helped ya some, best of luck!!!
