I was going for more of a muscle sound, like a mustang or something, would straight pipes work?it is a 4 cylinder.2doorAny tips appriciated
Hate to tell you but a 4 cylinder just isn't going to sound as good as a V-8. I have a custom exhaust on my turbo 4 and at idle it has a nice purr but you don't really hear much until I hit high rpm's. Don't get one of those fart can mufflers you see on the back end of rice mobiles. I recommend a Magnaflow cat back system or universal muffler.
Unfortunately, whatever system you put on there is still going to sound like a four cylinder. Maybe a Flowmaster or turbo muffler will give you a little lower rumbly sound, but it still won't sound like a V8 car. It's just not possible with your engine. Shouldn't be as annoying as one of those stainless steel noisemakers, though.
Don't do it. I thought the same thing with my Alero a few years ago and it didn't happen. So ended up selling the car and bought an older fox body Mustang with a 5.0. You'll never get a good muscle sound out of a 4 cylinder nor a 6.
chevron uses it so i see no ill effects on any engine. the diesel is one that i do not know about.
