You can clear the code with a dealer scanner or some other aftermarket scanners. Never heard of cleaning the contacts on an airbag module. Is that a GMC service bulletin or something? Generally the air bag light will go on and stay on if there is a fault in the system. The only part that might check out okay when the system checks itself then show a fault later when you are driving is the clock-spring. This is the part under the steering wheel and the only moving part in the system. That's why it checks out when the truck is sitting and throws a code after you are driving. They are an expensive part but they rarely fail. In your case this sounds like the problem.
