My engine is 6.0. How do I fix the overdrive situation on the push button on the column so I can get better mileage.
this is called electrolisis, and its normally caused by having a copper pipe and a galvinized pipe connected to one another, between these two types a pipe there shpould be whats called a di-lectric union now, if the whole home is copper all the way to the bras meter, this is caused by a lost nuetral in your panel boxthe main service panel with the circuit breakers in it, so that all your nuetral power lines in your home are now using the pipes as a nuetral, not a ground, but just as close.if you dont have two differnt pipes such as mentioned above causing this problem, call an electrician quick.just like old flashlight batteries decay so will your pipes.
Check tire pressure and make them what the owners manual recommends. Then pretend there is a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal and drive that way rather than tromping on the pedal; also try to look 5 cars ahead and if they have to brake for a light then you know ahead of time to let off the throttle and try to cruise through on the green. Also leave at least 1 car length space between you and the next car rather than riding his bumper. Check and maybe get a new clean aircleaner. Maybe you are in need of new plugs. Maybe your brakes are dragging. Maybe you got the wrong color of truck(not fast red-but guzzling green). The tires themselves, are they summer tires or got big lugs? One rolls easy and the other needs more power(and gas) to turn over.
A normal crisis for emissions is the EGR valve. They don't seem to be consistently unhealthy, however they'll get blocked with deposits stopping them from starting or final absolutely whilst required. This crisis may also reason diminish gasoline mileage and a hard walking engine. It will also be eliminated and wiped clean whether it is nonetheless well. A unhealthy or susceptible O2 sensor can reason the PCM to make a incorrect gasoline ratio adjustment and end result gasoline economic system. This would reason a gasoline method similar DTC to set.
This is verdi-gris which is the coppers form of rust caused by damp or leaking pipes. Unless you have a continual leak it would still take years to corrode!
As a former owner of a Chevy K2500, I can tell you that you definitely have an issue. You should be getting about 12mpg city and about 15mpg highway. However, mine was configured for more efficient work. It had standard tires, rims and suspension system and was a 2000 model, ext cab, long bed, 6.0. If you have larger rims, oversize tires, suspension lift, you can rest assured that your mileage will suffer heavily from those. Other accessories such as bed toppers, front grille guards, KC lights will also hurt your fuel mileage by adding unnecessary weight and inducing more drag but not as much as the above. Also, check your driving habits. Aggressive acceleration, driving in 4x4 mode or just with the transfer case engaged will also sap fuel mileage. If you get a check engine light, make sure you swing by an Auto-Zone or O'reilly store and get them to do a diagnostic on it. They'll do it for free and certain faults can have minor impacts on your truck's fuel efficiency. Odds are very high that it has nothing to do with the transmission. The GM 4L80E transmission (standard issue with all 2007 and older GM gas engine 3/4 ton and larger trucks) is a work-horse and designed to take serious punishment. It is also a simple design with not much to go wrong. The button on the shifter (to engage tow/haul mode) added in 1999 does not affect the transmission's overdrive. That button only adjusts the shift points (to higher RPM) and makes the transmission shift faster/harder, which saves wear on the transmission when the truck hauling payload or towing.
