Question:

Stocks or physical metals?

I know that physical metals are probably a better investment but should I also have some stocks? My grandma used to tell me it's a good idea to have a diversed financial portfolio. Should I have all physical metals with no stocks or mostly physical metals with some stocks?

Answer:

The % metal in the ore is determined by analyzing a sample of the material the amount of metal is then devided by the size of the sample to determine its percent. Once the ore is mined, the metals must be extracted, usually by chemical or electrolytic reduction. Pyrometallurgy uses high temperatures to convert ore into raw metals, while hydrometallurgy employs aqueous chemistry for the same purpose. The methods used depend on the metal and their contaminants.
