Question:

I'm on O2 and need a mechanical lift to hoist 43 lb concentrator into Subaru for travel?

I can lift the 43 lbs a few inches. Need to slide/roll the concentrator into the back of my Subaru Outback to go places for more than my portable tanks allow. --weekends, etc. There must be a flat rolling jack that I can put the concentrator on, roll the jack to the car, have the jack lift the concentrator, and roll it off the platform and into the flat back of the Subaru. Where do I look for same? Smart alec answers show ignorance and lack of compassion.

Answer:

I wasn't even trying to come up with a smart alec answer, but now you got me thinking. I haven't seen a smaller car with a lift, and don't know what you would do to get it out where you are going. But harbor freight and tools sells a small engine hoist that would work for putting it in. it's like a crane, though , not a jack from the bottom. So, here's the smart alec answer, get a strong date.
Some specialty medical needs companies offer in-car electrical hoists...you would roll the concentrator on a small dolly to the car and swing the hoist arm out... hoist it into the hatch or trunk area. The easiest solution might be to just have a ramp built out of plywood and reinforcing 1 X 2's or 1 X 4's where you could roll the unit on a furniture dolly to the car and roll it up the ramp into the back. The ramp would have to be small enough or collapsible to fit in the car to allow you to remove the unit as well when you get to your destination.
Having a winch with a pivoting swing arm could come in handy to lift any heavy objects you may encounter in the future. The problem with a jack on the ground is it is cumbersome and heavy itself, especially when you have to carry the jack back and forth to your other locations. By building the swing arm into the bed of the Subaru, it is always ready and is out of the way when you don't need it, as long as you make the vertical post of the swing arm close to the side wall of the subaru body
