Question:

I made a spark protector?

Once there was a big lightning strike near our house and our ceiling fan got fryed even though it was turned off from the switch. I'm suspecting the surge jumpped the gap inside the switch (the gap bitween the contacts). So in order to prevent it I made a small device where I placed the live and neutral wires really close the ground wire (only 0.15cm's away). The device is inside a plastic case and is installed at the service entrance. So my device should provide protection from these jumping lightning surges right? I have surge protectors but as I heard a strong enough lightning surge can jump even through the blown fuses. My Device should prevent this right? After all the ground wire is more attractive than the neutral that is grounded at the tranceformer right? A lightning surge can jump right? or is the site I read telling false information? And yes I have very good dual ground wire

Answer:

Yes it is due to the size of the dust particles this happens with the cheap ones more often than the better constructed ones and then too it sounds like poor maintenance they do require cleaning periodically
your fire department was right on the money it tiem the sensor in your smoke detecter can see the build up uf dust as a false reading the should be clean just like anything else also it may not work when needed for the same reason it should be cleaned this can be done with canned air or the should just replace it i would rather see replacement after 5 or six years on the battery only models . take care Mr. Hardware
sorry this is going to sound rude, but im thinking like a butthole law enforcer. lol. because you were trying to avoid a speed bump doesnt make it okay. those speed bumps are MEANT to be driven over so you can reduce your speed. its a part of the street. how much was the ticket? i know for my ticket, if they put a date on the bottom of the ticket, and the court address, you HAVE to go to court. you just have to. even if you pay the fine before the court date. idk why, you just do. trust me, ive been to court alot. lol. he might get the book thrown at him this time if it's been a short amount of time. im surprised he didnt get another stupid ticket like 'wreckless endangerment'' lol. but seriously, he might do like some days in jail. it all depends on the judge. they told me not to get another traffic violation for a yr or i was going to do jail time for the next one. but i got in an accident when i didnt have a license..hmm. i hope i helped.
Yes. Most smoke alarms use a photo electric cell in them and when smoke and even heavy dust enters the area of the photo cell it breaks the beam inside and trips the alarm. In newer high rises the smoke alarms are accompanied by heat detectors that help to squelch false alarms caused by dust.
The detector only care about particles and the volume of particles they sense. Once the particle count is high enough you will have an alarm. Does not matter if it is dust, or smoke.
