I have noticed that when I bench press I am able to lift more weight when I tilt the bar lopsided and then lift. It is hard to explain but I lift my left side first and then my right and it seems to increase the weight I can do. Is this going to effect me at all?
Thsi happen to me as well in my youth but I learn to adapt to this problem.I am left handed so that is a question, but my left arm seems to be lifting the weight faster causing my right arm to tilt.My trainer thought of the matter is that my left arm is stronger but how can this be since Im right handed. But this is no longer a problem,I learn to balance my weight and strength, good luck.
Your left shoulder/ chest muscles are likely stronger than your right, which is normal if you are dominant left handed. It sounds like you are likely not doing the exercise correctly if you have to rely on your stronger hand to get the bar up, your form is likely off which could cause poor results and injury. I would strongly suggest using less weight untill you get proper form and once you can do that continue to add more weight. And make sure you have a spotter, he/she can help you raise the bar, and keep your form correct and also bail you out if your about to drop the weight
One arm will always be stronger then the other. Look up jay cutler, 4 time mr olympia, even iv noticed he benches higher with his left arm then with his right. Everyone has a different body so no one will have perfect form, if anything, you might want to switch to dumbell press and take a break from regular press. it may help straighten out your form.
